Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team split its Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against UW-Parkside on Saturday (March 25), as the Flyers dropped the opener 5-2, but responded with a 13-5 win over the Rangers in the nightcap at Brennan Field.
With the split, Lewis is now 5-16 overall and 1-3 in GLVC action, while the Rangers move to 9-9 on the campaign and 3-1 in conference play.
Lewis returns to action on Wednesday (March 28), as the Flyers meet Grand Valley State in Michigan for a 3 PM ET first pitch.

The UW-Parkside pitching staff held Lewis' bats in check, as the Flyers managed just two hits off of UWP starting pitcher Nate Stolte and Cody Rolshoven.

Kenny King (Orland Park, Ill./Providence ) provided the only offensive highlight for the Flyers with a two-run double in the sixth inning.

Dalton Hottle (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) took the loss on the mound for the Flyers. Hottle (1-2) allowed five runs and eight hits in six innings of work.

Lewis' No. 1 through 5 hitters batted a combined 15-for-24 with eight RBI and 11 runs scored as the Flyers picked up the 13-5 win in the nightcap.

Brandon Collins (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way North) all picked up four hits in the win. Terry (4-for-6) added two runs and a RBI, while Tyrell (4-for-5) scored four times and drove in a run with a solo homer.

Matt McCauley (Oakville, Mo./St. John Vianney) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored a run. Lewis junior catcher
Trevor Tunison (Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) added a two-run single in the Flyers' seven-run eighth inning.

Jay Militello (Elmwood Park, Ill. /Fenwick) earned his first collegiate win, as he tossed 2.2 innings and did not allow a run while striking out a pair. He was relieved by sophomore
Pete Hamot (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) who pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless ball while fanning two.
