Quincy, Ill. - The No. 5 Lewis University men's volleyball team recorded a season-best hitting percentage of .449 (45 kills, 10 errors, 78 attacks) as the visiting Flyers picked up the 25-21, 25-18, 25-19 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association victory over Quincy University at Pepsi Arena on Saturday (March 4) afternoon.
It was the best hitting performance by a Flyer squad since they hit .486 (45-11-70) against the same Hawks on April 11, 2015.
The victory extends Lewis' season-best winning streak to seven matches and the Flyers improve to 15-3 overall and 9-2 in MIVA action. The Hawks drop to 3-14 on the campaign and 1-10 in conference play.

Kyle Bugee (Los Altos, Calif./Homestead), senior outside hitter
Trevor Weiskircher (Loves Park, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and redshirt senior middle blocker
Jacob Schmiegelt (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) combined for 34 kills - matching the entire output of Quincy kills as a team.
Bugee posted a match-high 13 kills and hit .571 (13-1-21), while Weiskircher had 11 putaways and hit .444 (11-3-18). Schmiegelt had a perfect hitting percentage of 1.000 with 10 kills on 10 swings with no errors and added a match-high three block assists.
Lewis sophomore setter
Matt Yoshimoto (Ventura, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) dished out a match-high 37 assists along with three block assists, while redshirt sophomore libero
Michael Simmons (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) recorded six digs.
Lewis returns to action on Wednesday (March 8), as the Flyers meet No. 7 UCLA. Tip-off is set for 7 PM PT.
