Lewis Women's Basketball Moves On To GLVC Finals With 69-50 Win Over UIndy

Flyers advance to first GLVC title game since 2013; Kelliher posts double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds for Flyers.

Evansville, Ind. - The Lewis University women's basketball team advanced to its first Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament Finals since 2013, as the Flyers - behind a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds from GLVC Player of the Year Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) - defeated the University of Indianapolis, 69-50, in the GLVC Semifinals at the Ford Center on Saturday (March 4) night.

Kelliher was 11-for-20 from the field and added five blocked shots and two assists for good measure.

The Flyers also received a career-high 16 points - including three treys - from redshirt sophomore guard Kayla Brewer (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee School of Languages). Lewis freshman forward Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) added 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the victory.

With the win, Lewis improves to 23-7 and will take on top-seeded Drury at 3:30 PM on Sunday (March 5) for the GLVC Championship. Indianapolis finishes the season with a record of 17-14.

For the second-straight night, Lewis enjoyed a sizeable advantage on the glass, as the Flyers outrebounded Indianapolis, 44-27.

As a team, Lewis shot 46.4% (26-for-56) from the field and 43.8% (7-for-16) from long range, while the Greyhounds knocked down 33.9% (21-for-62) of their attempts and 33.3% (6-for-18) from behind the three-point line. After shooting 11.8% (2-for-17) from the field in the first quarter, Lewis responded by shooting 61.5% (24-for-39) over the final 30 minutes.
