Clermont, Fla. - The Lewis University softball team was clicking on all cylinders as the Flyers earned the 16-2 (5 inn.) regional victory over Northwood on Monday (March 6).
Lewis' trio of senior shortstop
Carly Jaworski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont), junior catcher
Sarah DeMasi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) and sophomore pitcher
Dara Sanders (Crestwood, Ill./Mother McAuley) each went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
DeMasi (3 runs) added a two-run homer and Sanders and Jaworski both scored twice in the win.
With the victory, Lewis improves to 5-3 on the campaign, while the Timberwolves drop to 6-6 overall.
Sanders (3-0) was equally as impressive in the circle, as she allowed just one hit and struck out five batters.
The Flyers also received solid offensive performances from freshman right fielder
Emily Guske (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) and freshman second baseman
Amy Bukovsky (Aurora, Ill./Montini Catholic).
Guske went 2-for-3 and scored twice, while Bukovsky drove in two runs and added a run.
