Clermont, Fla. - The Lewis University softball team received hits from 10 different players and RBI from six different players, as the Flyers collected the 7-4 non-conference victory over Saint Anselm at Hancock Park 5 on Thursday (March 9).
Lewis junior designated player
Sarah DeMasi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) scored two runs and drove in a pair with a two-run homer in the first inning.
Flyer senior shortstop
Carly Jaworski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) and sophomore first baseman
Carley Maupin (Peotone, Ill./Peotone) each had two hits, scored a run and plated a run, while junior left fielder
Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist) went 2-for-5 and scored a run in the victory.
With the win, Lewis improves to 9-4 on the campaign, while Saint Anselm drops to 1-3 on the season.
Lewis senior pitcher
Lainie Schweickert (Peru, Ill./St. Bede Academy) earned the complete-game victory in the circle. Schweickert (2-1) scattered four runs and six hits, while striking out three batters.
Lewis returns to action on Friday against Walsh at 3:30 PM ET.
