Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team split its Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader against No. 12/24 University of Indianapolis on Saturday (Apr. 1), as the Flyers dropped a 4-2 decision to the Greyhounds in the opener, but rallied for the 4-3 win in the nightcap at Brennan Field.
With the split, Lewis is now 6-18 on the campaign and 2-4 in GLVC action, while the Greyhounds move to 18-9 on the season and 3-3 in conference play.
Both teams will wrap up its four-game set on Sunday (April 2) with a 12 PM twinbill at Brennan Field.
GAME ONE
Indianapolis 4, Lewis 2

The Indianapolis pitching staff held Lewis to just one hit over the final seven innings as the Greyhounds edged the Flyers, 4-2, in the opener.
Lewis senior center fielder
Brandon Collins (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln Way North) led the Flyers offensively, batting 2-for-4 - including a RBI double - and scored a run.
Flyer senior pitcher
Alex Shake (Glasford, Ill./Canton) took the loss, as he allowed four runs - two earned - and six hits in 5.1 innings of work. Shake fanned four batters and issued three walks.

Lewis senior hurler
Sam Couch (Bolingbrook, Ill./Joliet Catholic) picked up the complete-game victory for the Flyers, allowing three runs and eight hits, while striking out four in the 4-3 win over the Greyhounds.
Collins and sophomore outfielders
Brandon Post (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) and
Connor Rutherford (DePere, Wis./DePere) each picked up a pair of base hits in the victory. Post drove in two runs, while Rutherford scored once.
Lewis freshman shortstop
Ryan Schefske (Lombard, Ill. /Glenbard East) connected for his first collegiate home run - a solo shot - in the fourth inning.
