Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 12/24 University of Indianapolis baseball team got off to a pair of quick starts over Lewis University picking up the 7-2, 8-6 Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader sweep over the Flyers at Brennan Field on Sunday (Apr. 2). The Greyhounds scored a combined seven runs in the first inning of each contest.
With the sweep, UIndy improves to 20-9 overall and 5-3 in GLVC action, while the Flyers fall to 6-20 on the campaign and 2-6 in conference play.
Lewis returns to action on Wednesday (Apr. 5) for a 2 PM regional doubleheader against Upper Iowa.

UIndy chased Lewis starting pitcher
Dalton Hottle (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) from the game with a four-run first inning en route to the 7-2 win over the Flyers in the opener.
Hottle allowed four runs and three hits, while walking two batters, in a losing effort.

Neal Tyrell (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) and sophomore second baseman
Alex Kiszkowski (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) each went 1-for-3 with a RBI for Lewis.

UIndy scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back in the 8-6 win over the Flyers in the nightcap.
Lewis starting pitcher
George Manikas (Lockport, Ill. /Joliet Catholic) took the loss for the Flyers, allowing six runs - five earned - and six hits in 3.2 innings of action. Manikas issued two walks and struck out one batter.
Tyrell went 2-for-5 and scored twice, while six different Flyers notched RBIs in the game.
