Evansville, Ind. - Lewis University women's tennis was able to defeat conference rival Southern Indiana in a road match 7-2 on Saturday (April 15).
Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy) and
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) defeated Kelsey Shipman and Brenna Wu 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Andrejszki beat Lauren Hambrock 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Mindiyarova defeated Shipman at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 2 doubles
Oana Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) and
Sara Grozdanovic (Berlin, Germany/Paul-Natorp Gymnasium) overcame Hambrock and Kymberly Brannon 8-5. On their own Trus beat Wu 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Grozdanovic beat Brannon 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Hailey Bruining (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) and
Megan Conlin (Aurora, Ill./Rosary) defeated Alex Jamison and Haley Jones 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
With the completion of the match Lewis finished it's regular season 15-6 and 4-2 in the GLVC. The team will begin the conference tournament April 21.
