Romeoville, Ill. - The big inning hurt the Lewis University softball team, as Missouri S&T scored two or more runs in five different innings en route to the 9-0 (6 inn.), 7-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference sweep over the Flyers at the Lewis Softball Field on Friday (Apr. 28).
With the sweep, Missouri S&T improves to 21-30 overall and 13-15 in GLVC action, while the Flyers fall to 24-25 on the campaign and 12-16 in conference play.
Lewis wraps up the 2017 campaign on Saturday (Apr. 29), as the Flyers head to Crown Point, Ind., for a 1 PM twinbill against Drury at the
Sparta Dome.

Missouri S&T scored three runs in three different innings to claim the 9-0 (6 inn.) win over the Flyers in the opener.
Lewis starting pitcher
Dara Sanders (Crestwood, Ill./Mother McAuley) took the loss for the Flyers, allowing six runs - two earned - and seven hits in 3.1 innings of work. Sanders walked three batters and fanned a pair of Miners.
Lewis senior shortstop
Carly Jaworski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the Flyers offensively.

Lainie Schweickert (Peru, Ill./St. Bede Academy) took the loss for the Flyers, allowing seven runs, five earned, eight hits and six walks in three innings of work.
Lewis juniors
Kaylee Prieto (Chicago, Ill./Marist) and
Sarah DeMasi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) combined for four hits and all three Flyer RBI. Prieto went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and scored a pair of runs, while DeMasi was 2-for-3 with a RBI.
