Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team scored twice in the final 19 minutes to claim the 2-0 regional victory over Purdue Northwest in the Flyers' season-opener at Lewis Stadium on Thursday (August 31).

The Flyers added an insurance goal at the 80:22 mark, when freshman forward
Konrad Malinowski (Arlington Heights, Ill./Wheeling) collected a rebound of a
Nico Mueller (Braunschweig, Germany/Raabeschule Braunschweig) shot and pounded it past Purdue Northwest goalkeeper Miguel David.
With the win, Lewis improves to 1-0 on the campaign, while Purdue Northwest drops to 0-1 on the season.

Philip Huang (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) picked up the shutout, stopping six Pride shots on the evening, while David turned away five Flyer attempts.
Lewis outshot Purdue Northwest, 14-11, including a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 3), as the Flyers travel to Fayette, Iowa for a 12 PM kickoff against Upper Iowa.
