William Jewell Edges Lewis Women's Soccer, 1-0

Cardinals score in 77th minute; Flyers drop third 1-0 match of the season.

Liberty, Mo. - William Jewell College freshman defender Annalee Arbeitman broke a scoreless tie in the 77th minute, scoring an unassisted goal to help the host Cardinals to the 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the Lewis University women's soccer team at Greene Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 10).

With the win, William Jewell improves to 3-0 on the campaign and 2-0 in GLVC action, while the Flyers drop to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

WJC outshot the Flyers 14-11, and held a 9-5 advantage in shots on frame. Lewis freshman Courtney Sengstock (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) topped the Flyers with three shots, including two on goal.

Lewis redshirt senior goalkeeper Jennifer Meyer (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) made eight saves for the Flyers.

Lewis returns to action on Friday (Sept. 15), as the Flyers host Missouri S&T at 5 PM for Latin American Night.
