Chicago, Ill. - Friday (Sept. 8), Lewis University women's tennis completed day one of the Cougar Invitational, the first tournament of the season for the Flyers.
In the doubles bracket
Oana Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) and
Simone Parn (Parnu, Estonia) won their first round match against South Dakota State's Daria Yakovleva and Zorka Sara Sviben 8-3, 8-3. The Lewis pair then went on to win their second round match 8-3, 8-3 against Abigail Dekkinga and Michelle Erasmus of Northern Illinois.
Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy) and
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) had a bye for round one and then defeated Livia Hollosy and Kimberley Tiat from Cardinal Stritch 8-2, in the second round.
Parn in singles competition lost to Sidney Brower of South Dakota State 6-3, 6-3.
Trus defeated Antonia Elze of Cardinal Stritch 6-4, 6-2.
Andrejszki advanced to the second round of the singles bracket after beating Lisa Keller of Cardinal Stritch 6-1, 6-1.
