Lewis looks to snap two game skid

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis Flyer men's basketball team looks to break a two-game skid as it heads to Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. (CST) contest against the Greyhounds. The road swing continues on Monday when the Flyers head up north to take on Wisconsin-Parkside in a 7:30 p.m. in Kenosha.

In its last contest Lewis fell to second ranked Bellarmine 66-54 on Thursday night at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers turned the ball over 16 times in the contest and the Knights took advantage outscoring them 22-10 in points off turnovers.

Lewis closed the gap to within two points several times in the second half but were unable to get over the hump and take the lead. Bellarmine pulled away thanks to a 10-2 run during a five minute stretch midway through the second half.

The Knights won the battle in the paint 26-14, in second chance points 9-2 and fast break points 10-4.

The Flyers shot 45 percent from the floor but allowed Bellarmine to shoot 49 percent from the field. Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) led three players in double figures with 14 points while Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) added 12 and Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) finished with 10.

ABOUT INDIANAPOLIS: Early offensive woes did in the Greyhounds in their 87-65 loss at Southern Indiana on Thursday evening. The 'Hounds trailed 23-9 but used an 8-2 run to close the deficit to single digits but ultimately the Screaming Eagles proved to be too much responding with a 16-2 to gain a 41-19 advantage with under a minute to play in the opening half.

Jesse Kempson led UIndy with 15 points in the contest while Tate Hall added 11 and Devin Dixon dropped in eight points. Hall also led the way on the glass with seven rebounds for the Greyhounds.

Ajay Lawton is one of four Greyhounds averaging double figures with 14.8 points per contest. He's joined by Eric Davidson who is dropping in 14 points per outing, Kempson is averaging 13.3 points per night and Hall is averaging 13.1 per game. Kempson leads the team in rebounding with 6.0 rebounds per game.

ABOUT WISCONSIN-PARKSIDE: The Rangers improved to 4-10, 2-2 GLVC with a pair of victories last weekend. They picked up a 75-65 win at home against McKendree last Thursday and then went on the road to defeat Missouri S&T 82-74 thanks to their three-point shooting. Parkside hit 16 three's in the contest led by Adam Bonk with seven while Espen Fjaerestad hit four three's. The Rangers host second ranked Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon before welcoming the Flyers on Monday evening.

Jameel Moore is leads Parkside in scoring averaging 13.4 points per game and is joined in double figures by Bonk with 13.1 points per outing and Goran Zagorac with 11 points per contest. Zagorac also leads the team with six rebounds per game.
