INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Lewis Flyers men's basketball team fell in overtime at Indianapolis 80-79 on Saturday despite a career-high 30 points from Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic). The loss was the third in a row for the Flyers dropping them to 7-10, 2-5 GLVC.

"I thought our guys played their hearts out," men's head basketball coach Scott Trost said. "They made one more play than we did. Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) was sensational."

Lewis got off to a slow start missing their first four shots from the field and fell behind 13-0 four minutes into the contest. Pischke got the Flyers going knocking down the first of his five three's and that sparked 18-5 run to cut the deficit to two points with 8:45 left in the opening half.

The Greyhounds (10-5, 4-3 GLVC) stopped the run momentarily when Jesse Kempson hit 1-of-2 at the foul line but Lewis ran off another seven in a row to grab a 25-21 lead with 5:51 left in the stanza.

The two sides then proceeded to go back-and-forth over the final four minutes of the frame. UIndy led 30-28 but a jumper from Nick Norton (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and Pischke's fourth trey of the half put the Flyers up 33-30 with 3:12 left. The Greyhounds responded with a 7-0 of their own to regain the lead at 37-33 but Lewis scored the final four points of the half to send the teams to the intermission tied at 37.

Pischke led all scorers with 17 points in the half while Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) added seven and Norton dropped in six. The Flyers shot 48 percent (13-for-27) from the field, were 7-of-11 from beyond the arc and shot 67 percent at the foul line.

Eric Davidson led UIndy with 11 points at the half and Trevor Lakes added six off the bench. Kempson, Ajay Lawton and Tate Hall had five points each. The 'Hounds shot 58 percent (14-for-24) from the floor, went 7-of-11 from downtown and shot 67 percent at the charity stripe.

Lewis opened the second half on an 11-2 run behind six points from Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) to take its biggest lead of the game at 48-39 three minutes into the frame. UIndy answered the Flyer run with a 12-2 run of its own to regain the lead at 51-50 three minutes later.

The Flyers had a chance to retake the lead but Pischke missed a step back jumper and Lawton came away with the rebound. Kempson missed a three-pointer on the ensuing possession but Hall got the rebound and was fouled with 0:15 left. Hall made 1-of-2 at the line to make it a two point game.

Pischke drove the baseline and was fouled trying to pass the ball back out and made both ends of the 1-and-1 to tie the game with 0:06 left. Eric Davidson had a three-pointer to win the game from the right corner but missed it at the buzzer.

In the extra frame, Davidson put the 'Hounds in front making 1-of-2 at the line then Bell gave Lewis its first lead since the 13:48 mark with a trey to put the Flyers in front 74-72. Kempson tied the game with a layup a minute later.

Norton gave Lewis the lead back hitting a pair of free throws with 2:23 left but Hall answered on the other end with a layup to tie the game. After Blayock missed a three, Bell stole the ball from Lawton and Pischke hit a three-pointer with 1:01 left to put the Flyers back in front 79-76.

On the ensuing possession Davidson hit a three-pointer just to the right of the top of the key and was fouled by Piscke with 0:32 left. Davidson completed the four-point play with the free throw. Lewis had a chance to take the lead but turned it over with 0:02 left. After a timeout, Donovan Oliver (Kewanee, Ill./Kewanee) stole a pass beyond half court but was unable to get a shot off in time.

Pischke finished with a game-high 30 points to lead four Flyers in double figures. Norton added 17, Blaylock finished with 11 and Bell had 10 off the bench. Lewis finished the game shooting 47 percent (27-for-57) from the field, went 11-for-22 from beyond the arc and shot 82 percent at the foul line. The Flyers outrebounded the Greyhounds 32-to-25.

Hall led three UIndy players in double figures with 25 points. Davidson dropped home 20 and Lawton had a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists. The 'Hounds shot 55 percent (28-for-51) from the field, was 13-of-24 from three and shot 65 percent at the foul line.
