Final Results

Chicago, Ill. - The Lewis University women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 5-4 loss to No. 9 University of Chicago Saturday (Jan. 27).

Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy) and Simone Parn (Parnu, Estonia) each went 2-0 to lead the Flyers (0-1).

Andrejszki won her No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-4 over Marjorie Antohi and teamed with Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania, Regele Ferdinand) at No. 1 doubles to take down Antohi and Claire Handa 8-5.

Parn defeated Alyssa Rudin at No. 4 singles 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 and teamed with Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) to beat Rudin and Daryn Ellison 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Mindiyarova fell to Handa at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1, Trus was defeated at No. 3 singles by Catherine Xu 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3) and Hailey Bruining (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) fell at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-3.

The Flyers forfeited at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles,

The University of Chicago moved to 2-0 on the season.

Lewis will play host to Cardinal Stritch Saturday (Feb. 3) at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill.
