Kansas City, Mo. - Two goals in less than three minutes propelled Rockhurst past the Lewis University women's soccer team 2-0 Friday (Oct. 12) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at Bourke Field. The loss snapped the Flyers' five-game winning streak.
After a scoreless first half of play, Rockhurst got on the board at the 54:47 mark when Stephanie Ostrander scored her 10th goal of the season on a header from five yards out, assisted by Cathy Rometti and Colleen Pikus. Just 2:57 later Pikus tallied her second goal of the year on a direct kick from 20 yards out.
The Hawks held the edge in the first half in shots, 7-3, with each team taking three corner kicks. In the second half the hosts held a 6-5 shot edge and a 3-1 corner kick advantage. For the game, Rockhurst held a 7-3 shots on goal advantage.

Kailey Parnello (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) took three shots for the Flyers, with two coming on goal. One of those shots on goal came between the two Hawk goals. Goalie

Rockhurst moves to 7-5-1 overall with the win, 6-3 in the GLVC, while Lewis is now 7-4-2 overall, 6-3 in the GLVC. The Flyers are back in action Sunday when they travel to William Jewell for a noon kick.
