Romeoville, Ill. - Saturday (Oct. 13), the Lewis University women's swimming team faced Eastern Illinois in a dual meet at home, beating the Panthers 168-90.
Stephanie Palczynski (Warrenville, IL/Wheaton Warrenville South High School) placed first in the 200-yard backstroke, setting a new Lewis Pool record with a time of 2:05.82 in the process.
Ebony McCray (Avondale, AZ/Agua Fria High School) finished first in three individual events. She finished the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.78 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.71. In the 100-yard butterfly, she clocked in with a time of 1:01.33.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle,
Ianthe Van Den Westhuizen (Randfontein, South Africa) came in first with a time of 11:04.37.
"We were very pleased with the energy from today's meet," said Lewis swimming head coach
Roger Karns. "We lost a close meet to EIU last year on both the men's and women's side. This year we made it a different story entirely."
Lewis will host Grand Valley State University for its next meet on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
