HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Lewis women's swimming team split its tri-meet at Hillsdale on Saturday afternoon. The Flyers lost to Findlay 187-91 and defeated the host Chargers 134.5-126.5.
Ebony McCray (Avondale, AZ/Agua Fria High School) recorded a pair of first place finishes in the meet. She won the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 24.55 and the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 26.93. McCray also finished second in the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 53.67.
Ianthe Van Den Westhuizen (Randfontein, South Africa) won the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 11:04.64 and was third in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:26.68.
Stephanie Palczynski (Warrenville, IL/Wheaton Warrenville South High School) won the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.35 and was second in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:59.81.
Maria Rodriguez took third in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:21.80.
Gabby Jeffers (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) and
Meghan Beese (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) finished second and fourth in the 50 yard backstroke in times of 28.29 and 28.68 respectively.
Daniela Navarrete (Panama City, Panama) finished third in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.73.
Lewis returns to the pool next weekend as it takes part in the University of Chicago Phoenix Fall Classic beginning on Friday.
