ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's basketball team hits the road for the final time in the 2017-18 regular season as it heads to Missouri to take on Drury at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday evening and then will travel up Interstate 44 to Rolla to take on Missouri S&T at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
The Flyers (12-13, 7-8 GLVC) bounced back from a last second loss at Maryville last Thursday with a 71-57 win over Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday afternoon at Neil Carey Arena. Lewis shot 59 percent (17-for-29) from the floor in the second half and outscored the Rangers 48-to-31 to erase a three-point halftime deficit.
Lewis is ranked seventh in the latest GLVC rating system with the top eight teams in the ratings advancing to the GLVC Tournament March 2-4 in Edwardsville, Ill. A win at Drury on Thursday would bolster the Flyers chances of making the tournament with the Panthers having a winning a percentage of .786 in GLVC games.
Cristen Wilson (Cleveland, Ohio/John Hay) and
Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) continue to lead the club in scoring averaging 16.9 and 16.6 points per game respectively while
Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) is dropping in 11.5 points per outing. Wilson is the team's leading rebounder averaging nearly nine per contest while Pischke leads the team in assists with 57.
ABOUT DRURY: The Panthers picked up their sixth straight win last Saturday holding off Maryville for an 85-84 win to improve to 18-4, 11-3 GLVC heading into Thursday night's contest. Drury has been tough at home this season winning 10 of 11 games.
The Panthers lead the GLVC in scoring at 88.5 points per game and are the top three-point shooting team in the conference making 43.8 percent of their attempts. They trail only Bellarmine in field goal percentage making 50.7 percent of their shots on the season.
Drury has a balanced scoring attack with six players averaging at least seven points per game and is led by Isaac Johnson at 12.8 per contest. Andrew Ballock is adding 10.3 points per game while Conley Garrison and Kamau Kinder are averaging 9.6 and 9.0 points per outing respectively.
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T: It's been a rough year for the Miners as they've dealt with injury issues to a number of key personnel. They're 2-20 overall and 0-14 in GLVC play heading into Thursday night's contest against Indianapolis.
As a team, they're averaging 71 points per game and have five players averaging double figures in scoring led by freshman Chris Harris and junior Romain Louiserre at 13.9 and 13.8 points per game respectively. Sebastian Ferenc is adding 12.1 points per contest while Allante Pickens and Dulan Scott are contributing 10.9 and 10.7 points per outing apiece.
