Plainfield, Ill. - The Lewis University women's tennis team won for the second straight match, 7-2, over Walsh Saturday (Feb. 17) in a nonconference clash at Five Star Tennis Center.
All three doubles teams were victorious on the day. At the No. 1 spot,
Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy) teamed with
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) to defeat Mercedes Fernandez and Clara Drasch, 8-1. The No. 2 team of
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) and
Simone Parn (Parnu, Estonia) defeated Katarina Raszum and Maria Kacalova 8-2, while
Megan Conlin (Aurora, Ill./Rosary) and
Hailey Bruining (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) won at No. 3, 8-5, over Sofia Khairutdinova and Parvanee Karimpour.
In the single competition Andrejszki beat Fernandez 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, Mindiyarova won 6-0, 6-4 over Kacalova at No. 2, Trus won 6-1, 6-4 over Drasch at No. 3 and Parn defeated Raszum 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4.
The win brought the Flyers above .500 at 2-1, while Walsh fell to 2-4.
Lewis is back in action Sunday (Feb. 18) when they welcome Valparaiso to Five Star Tennis Center for a 9:45 AM match.
