SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Lewis University men's tennis team picked up its second straight win Saturday (Feb. 24), beating Newman 5-4 on the road at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The win evens the Flyers' record at 2-2 on the year, while Newman falls to 3-4.
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) and
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) each went 2-0 on the day for the Flyers. In singles, Braschinsky defeated Lauri Soome 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. Norasith picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles over Blake Crawford, while
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) beat Enrique Coiras 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
In doubles, Braschinsky teamed with
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia) to take down Crawford and Szbin Pusztay 8-1 at the No. 1 spot. Norasith and
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) combined to beat Soome and Lucas Norbiato 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) and Peterson fell to Coiras and Diego Rojo 8-5 at the No. 3 doubles spot.
Next up for the Flyers is a meet against Drury at 10:15 a.m back in Springfield, Mo. It is the first Great Lakes Valley Conference match of the season for Lewis.
