Final Results
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Lewis University women's tennis team defeated previously unbeaten Newman 5-4 Saturday (Feb. 24) in a nonconference meet at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The win put the Flyers back over .500 at 3-2, while Newman falls to 8-1.
Lewis won five of the six matches it competed in to post the victory. Both doubles teams were victorious 8-3 as
Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy)Â and
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) won at No. 1 doubles over Vlada Litvinova and Kateryna Stoianova and
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) teamed with
Simone Parn (Parnu, Estonia) at No. 2 doubles over Niamh Packer and Liza Gerasimova.
In singles, Andrejszki took down Litvinova 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot. Mindiyarova beat Gerasimova 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Trus dropped a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 decision to Stoianova at No. 3 singles, while Parn beat Packer 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
The Flyers continue their road trip Sunday (Feb. 25) when they remain in Springfield, Mo. to take on Drury in their Great Lakes Valley Conference opener.
