Final Results
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Lewis University men's tennis team battled but came up short against No. 12 Drury, falling 5-4 Sunday (Feb. 25) in a match at Cooper Tennis Complex.
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) remained unbeaten in dual meets in both singles and doubles in 2018 after winning both of his matches. In singles, he moved to 5-0 at No. 1 singles after beating Nico Hadeler 5-7, 6-1, 10-6. He teamed with
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia) at No. 1 doubles as the tandem moved to 5-0 in 2018 with a 9-8 win over Leonardo Cerri and Gregor Kokalj.
Also winning for the Flyers (2-3) was the No. 2 doubles team of
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) and
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove), who defeated Augustin Diot and Sasha Mourier 8-4. It is the fourth straight win for the duo.
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) also picked up a win, taking down Cerri 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
The other doubles team of
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) fell to Hadeler and Lukas Stierling 8-4. Lusti fell at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-3 to Kokalj. Diot beat Norasith 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3, Mourier beat Levitin 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Stierling topped Stimpert 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.
Drury's win moved it to 8-0 on the season.
Lewis concludes its three-day road trip Monday (Feb. 26) when it travels to Northwest Missouri State for a 9 a.m. match.
