PLAINFIELD, Ill. - A close singles and doubles win for the Lewis women's tennis team gave it a 5-4 win over Tiffin Saturday (March 17) at Five Star Tennis Complex.
In doubles, it was the No. 2 tandem of
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) and
Simone Parn (Parnu, Estonia) who took down Anais Geslin and Juliette Sirgant 9-7 for the win.
Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy) and
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) added an 8-4 win over Milah Ryland and Adel Musina at No. 1 doubles.
In singles, Trus' tiebreak win made the difference in the match as she won 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 over Abbie-Jade Riley at the No. 3 spot. Andrejszki picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Adel Musina at No. 1 singles and Mindiyarova added a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lauren Prince at No. 2 singles.
The win moves the Flyers to 6-4 on the year, while Tiffin is now 12-11.
Lewis returns to the courts Tuesday (March 20) when it travels to Bolivar, Mo. to take on Southwest Baptist University at 5 p.m.
