INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Lewis University women's tennis team lost to No. 18 Southwest Baptist 6-3 Tuesday (March 20) in a nonconference match.
Dora Andrejszki (Budapest, Hungary/Dozsa Gyorgy) led the way for the Flyers, going 2-0 on the evening. She picked up the lone singles win for Lewis, topping Jill Van den Dungen 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot. In doubles, she teamed with
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) to defeat Van den Dungen and Klara Vickov 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Also earning a point for the Flyers was the doubles team of
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) and
Simone Parn (Parnu, Estonia), who took down Constanca Crespo and Lucia Diaz 8-6. At the other singles spots, Mindiyarova fell 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 to Vickov, Trus lost 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 to Diaz and Parn fell 6-3, 6-3 to Crespo at No. 4.
Lewis falls to 6-5 on the season, while Southwest Baptist moves to 6-3.
The Flyers head to Michigan to take on Ferris State Friday (March 23) at 10 a.m.
