BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lewis University women's tennis team defeated Ferris State 6-3 Friday (March 23) in a nonconference match at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
All four competitors went unbeaten for the Flyers. In singles, Dora Andrejeszki beat Nika Hein 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1,
Nora Mindiyarova (Moscow, Russia/Gimnasium 1577) took down Silvia Verebes 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2,
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) beat Nicole Meylor 6-0, 7-5 at No. 3 and
Simone Parn (Parnu, Estonia) topped Teodora Stefanovic 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Andrejszki and Trus beat Hein and Verebes 8-1, while Parn and Mindiyarova won 8-4 over Meylor and Stefanovic.
The win moves the Flyers to 7-5 on the year, while the Bulldogs fall to 7-13.
Lewis continues its trip in Michigan with a game in Midland against Northwood at 2 p.m. Saturday (March 24).
