BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - For the second time this week the Lewis University men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 contest, this time to Ferris State Friday (March 23) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
It was another strong showing at the top of the lineup for the Flyers as
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma)Â and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia) each went 2-0 for the second time this week. They teamed up at No. 1 doubles to take down Steward Sell and Nur Ramdani Iswan 8-6. In singles Braschinsky won at No. 1 over Sell 6-4, 6-2, while Lusti topped Iswan 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2.
The other win for Lewis went to the No. 2 doubles team of
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin), who teamed up at No. 2 doubles to beat Austin Debruyne and Daniil Tarantinov 8-6. The other doubles team of
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) lost to Mathis Guerre and Pablo Munoz Baroja 8-4.
In singles Norasith fell to Tarantinov 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3, Levitin lost 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) to Debruyne at No. 4, Stimpert fell 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 to Guerre and Peterson lost 6-0, 6-0 to Baroja.
The Bulldogs moved to 11-2 with the win, while the Flyers fell to 6-7.
The Flyers are back in action Saturday (March 24) when they take on Northwood in Midland, Michigan at 2 p.m.
