MIDLAND, Mich. - The Lewis University men's tennis team fell to Northwood 5-2 Saturday (March 24) in a regional match at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia) had a part in both wins for the Flyers. In singles he defeated Kobus Sauerman 6-2, 7-6 at the No. 2 spot, while he teamed with
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) at No. 1 doubles to take down Mikhail Fomenkov and Sauerman 8-4.
At the other doubles spots
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) and
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) fell to David Reinauer and Francois Sauerman 9-7 at No. 2 doubles and
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) lost to Ben Brandherm and Pablo Salamanca 8-6 at No. 3.
In the other completed singles matches, it was Fomenkov over Braschinski at No. 1 6-0, 6-3, Reinauer over Norasith 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 and Francois Sauerman over Levitin 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4.
The Flyers fall to 6-8 on the year, while Northwood improves to 9-1.
Next up for the Flyers is a trip to Illinois Springfield Friday (March 30) for a 2 p.m. contest.
