LOCKPORT, Ill. – The No. 45 Lewis men's tennis team defeated Southern Indiana 5-4 Saturday (April 14) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Lockport Tennis Club.

Lewis was led by
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma), who was the lone Flyer to go 2-0 on the day. At No. 1 singles the No. 48 ranked Braschinsky beat Samuel Kiladejo 6-2, 6-1, while he teamed up with
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia) at No. 1 doubles to beat Kiladejo and Andrew Dones 8-6. The Flyer duo is ranked No. 4 in the country, according to the ITA.

The rest of the Flyers each won one match on the day. For singles it was
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) beating Martim Café 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 and
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) taking down Spencer Blanford 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 6. In doubles the No. 2 squad of
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) beat Alexander Lawrenz and Ilia Karelin 8-3.

It was the third straight win for the Flyers, who are now 10-9 on the season and 4-1 in the GLVC, while USI falls to 8-12, 3-2.

The Flyers face St. Francis at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 17) in Lockport.
