Flyers Fall At Quincy 3-1

Quincy, Ill. – The Lewis women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at Quincy on Friday evening. Karlie Cummins (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) scored the Flyer (2-3-2, 1-2-0 GLVC) goal in the 87th minute off a corner kick from Mallory Richardson (Bartlett, Ill./Westminister Christian).

Quincy (4-3, 2-1 GLVC) opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Maddie Bauer scored on an unassisted goal from 10 yards out into the bottom left corner. Lewis had a chance with a corner kick in the 43rd minute to try and tie the game but were unable to take advantage.

The Hawks held a 7-4 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes and 4-1 in shots on goal.

The Flyers had a chance in the 54th minute but Kailey Parnello's (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) shot was saved by Emilee Autry. Parnello had another chance five minutes later but was blocked. Allie Mikos (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) had a chance in the 66th minute but was denied by Autry and then Cali Havelka-Vanderplow (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale South) had a header attempt miss wide in the 69th minute.

Quincy added to its lead in the 75th minute when Abby Pulliam scored on a breakaway from 10 yards out of a long pass from Alex Severino. The Hawks added another goal 11 minutes later when Pulliam scored again this time off a pass from Bauer from 10 yards out.

Lewis broke the shutout 1:07 later when Cummins scored her second of the season off a corner from Richardson.

The Hawks held a 15-9 advantage in shots and 7-4 in shots on goal. Parnello led the Flyers with three shots while Havelka-Vanderplow and Richardson had two each.

The Flyers are at home on Sunday taking on Illinois Springfield at 2:30 p.m.
