SOMERS, Wis. – The Lewis women's soccer team tied with Wisconsin-Parkside 2-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Wood Road Field in Somers, Wis. The game was called after a lengthy weather delay in the 89
th minute.
The Rangers (1-1-1) got on the board first in the 20th minute when Chloe Couves scored off a double assist from Jazmin Castanon and Maycee Kroening.
The Flyers (0-1-2) tied the game in the 33rd minute when
Christine Szymanski (Orland Park, Ill/Sandburg) put home a rebound off the crossbar after a shot from
Courtney Sengstock (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) for her first of the season.
Lewis held a 9-3 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes and 3-2 in shots on goal.
The Flyers dominated in the second half outshooting Parkside 15-6 and put five of those on goal.
Kailey Parnello (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) put Lewis in front in the 80th minute with an unassisted goal for her second of the season.
The Rangers answered with a goal in the final 90 seconds when Kroening headed home a corner kick from Couves just before the weather delay began.
The Flyers finished the contest outshooting Parkside 24-9 and 8-6 in shots on goal while both teams had four corner kicks.
Lewis is back at home on Saturday, Sept. 8, taking on Northern Michigan at 12 p.m. at Lewis Stadium.
