CHICAGO, Ill. – A pair of wins from
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) and a win from
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) wasn't enough for the Lewis University men's tennis team in a 6-3 loss at No.3 University of Chicago on Saturday afternoon.
Braschinsky beat Erik Kerrigan 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 1 singles and teamed with Lusti to beat Tyler Raclin and Jeremy Yuan 8-5.
Lusti defeated Yuan at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-4.
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) fell at No. 3 singles to Charlie Pei 7-5, 6-2
Pedja Trifunovic lost his match at No. 4 singles to Alejandro Rodriguez 7-5, 6-2
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) dropped his match at No. 5 singles to Alex Guzhva 6-1, 6-0
Benjamin Kasbeer (Lake Forest, Ill./Deerfield) fell at No. 6 singles to Joshua Xu 6-2, 6-1
Ambrozic and Trifunovic lost their match at No. 2 doubles to Kerrigan and Ninan Kumar 8-7.
Stimpert and
Anton Levitin (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) dropped their match at No. 3 doubles to Pei and Xu 8-2.
Chicago moves to 1-0 on the year, while Lewis opens 0-1.
The Flyers are back in action on Friday (Feb. 1) when it hosts Tiffin at 9 a.m. at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield.
