ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season on Friday defeating Tiffin 5-2 at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. The Flyers improved to 1-1 while the Dragons fall to 0-2.
Lewis swept the doubles matches to earn the point.
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) and
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) won at no. 1 doubles 6-2 over Tom Arias and Nikita Parfenov.
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) and
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) defeated Toby Cutting and Sorin Navrotchi 6-3 at no. 2 doubles and Pedja Trifunovic and
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) downed Santiago Rosa and Hugo Chatras 6-2 at no. 3 doubles.
The Flyers also recorded wins in four of the six singles matches in the dual. Braschinsky defeated Parfenov in straight sets by the score of 6-1, 6-0 at no. 1 singles. Lusti defeated Rosa 6-2 and 7-6 in no. 2 singles. At no. 3 singles it was Ambrozic topping Arias 6-1 and 6-2. Trifunovic won the first set against Cutting 6-1 but Cutting came back to win the next two sets 7-5 and 10-8 at no. 4 singles. In no. 5 singles action Stimpert fell in straight sets to Navrotchi 6-4 and 6-2.
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) won his match at no. 6 singles against Chatras 7-5 and 6-0.
Lewis returns to the court next Friday hosting Northwood at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill.
