PLAINFIELD, Ill. – The Lewis men's tennis team picked up its second straight win on Friday defeating Northwood 5-2 at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. The Flyers (2-1) won two of the three doubles match to earn the point and four of the six singles matches.
Alan Braschinsky (Tallinn, Estonia/Milna Harma) improved to 3-0 in singles competition for the season winning his number one singles match against Kobus Sauerman 6-3 and 6-4.
Oskar Lusti (Tallinn, Estonia/) dropped the opening set to David Reinauer in number two singles action 7-6 but rallied to win the last two 6-2 and 6-3 to also improve to 3-0 on the season in singles play.
David Ambrozic (Portoroz, Slovenia) rallied from a set down to defeat Ben Brandherm at number three singles 1-6, 6-1 and 6-4.
The Timberwolves (0-1) picked up wins at number four and five singles. Pablo Salamanca defeated Pedja Trifunovic in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 and Ivan Medvynskyi rallied to defeat
Chandler Stimpert (Graceland, Ill./Morton) 0-6, 7-6, 10-7.
Brendan Peterson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) won his second singles match in dual competition defeating Hayden Drury in straight sets 7-6, 6-1 at number six singles.
In doubles action, Braschinsky and Lusti defeated Salamanca and Sauerman 6-3 in number one doubles to remain unbeaten in dual competition this spring.
Ambrozic and Peterson teamed up at number two doubles to defeat Reinauer and Drury 6-4.
Stimpert and Trifunovic dropped their number three doubles match to Medvynskyi and Brandherm 6-2.
The Flyers are back in action next Saturday hosting Ferris State at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill.
