ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Ebony McCray (Avondale, AZ/Agua Fria High School) set four Lewis pool records in the Flyers (8-7) triangular wins over Davenport and North Central on Saturday afternoon. The Flyers won nine of the 11 events in the triangular.
McCray set her first record in the third leg of the 200 medley relay swimming the butterfly in 25.59 seconds. She added her second record winning the 100 fly in a time of 56.82 seconds. Her third record came leading off the 200 free relay. She covered the 50 yards in 24.02 seconds. McCray's final record of the day came as a part of the 200 free relay team with
Meghan Beese (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South),
Gabby Jeffers (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) and
Daniela Navarrete (Panama City, Panama).
The 200 medley relay team of Beese,
Hannah Zuercher (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X), McCray and Jeffers won the event in a time of 1:46.19.
Maria Rodriguez won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:11.58.
Stephanie Palczynski (Warrenville, IL/Wheaton Warrenville South High School) and
Marie Grzybek (Inverness, Ill./William Fremd) finished first and third respectively in the 200 free with Palczynski coming in at 1:56.46 and Grzybek finished at 2:04.67.
Ianthe Van Der Westhuizen won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:15.45 while
Rachel Marsh (Houston, Texas/Mirabeau B. Lamar) was fourth at 2:23.49 and
Taylor Vera (Wyoming, Mich./Grand Rapids Catholic Central) finished fifth at 2:28.87.
Navarrete and Zuercher went 1-2 in the 50 freestyle. Navarrete finished in a time of 24.95 seconds and Zuercher was at 25.95.
Morgan Lagestee (Munster, Ind./Munster) and
Krystal Gillespie (Yorkville, IL/Yorkville High School) finished sixth and eighth in the event.
Meaghan Bower (Lenexa, Kan./Shawnee Mission),
Shelby Gertson (Phoenix, AZ/Seton Catholic Preparatory) and Marsh finished second, third and fourth respectively behind McCray in the 100 fly.
Navarrete won her second event of the day in the 100 free with a time of 54.74 while Palczynski was third at 55.80 and Lagestee was fifth at 1:00.05.
Jeffers, Beese and Gillespie went first, third and fourth in the 100 back with Jeffers finishing at 58.10.
Van Der Westhuizen took second and Vera finished fourth in the 500 free.
Bower and Marsh finished second and third in the 100 breast.
Lewis returns to the pool on Wednesday (Feb. 6) when it travels to Crawfordsville, Ind., to compete in the GLVC Swimming and Diving Championships.
