Flyers Open Spring Season With 7-2 Loss at No. 10 Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Lewis University women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 7-2 loss to 10th ranked University of Chicago on Saturday (Jan. 26).

Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia) won her match at No. 4 singles and teamed up with Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) to win their No. 1 doubles match for the Flyers (0-1).

Sredojevic took the opening set in her singles match with Eugenia Lee 7-5. Lee came back to even the match at set apiece taking set 6-4. Sredojevic prevailed winning the third set in a tiebreak 10-5.

Sredojecvic and Carmen Trus defeated Marjorie Antohi and Lauren Park in their doubles match 8-5.

Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic) fell in her No. 2 singles match to Lauren Park 6-0, 6-3.

Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) dropped her No. 3 singles match to Catherine Xu, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0.

Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) fell in her No. 5 singles match to Nicole Semenov 6-1, 6-0.

Pilzvoa and Reisch fell to Xu and Lee in their No. 2 doubles match 8-4.

The Flyers forfeited at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.

The University of Chicago moved to 1-0 on the season.

Lewis will travel to Bloomington, Ill., on Sunday to take on Illinois State at 4 p.m.
