ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The 11th ranked Lewis men's basketball team dropped a 75-66 decision against Truman State on Thursday night at Neil Carey Arena. The loss snapped the Flyers (8-2, 1-1 GLVC) seven game-winning streak while the Bulldogs (8-5, 3-0) won for the eighth time in nine games.

Truman opened the scoring with a three-pointer from Nathan Messer and never relinquished the lead the rest of the half. It led by as many as 12 points in the frame after a layup from Turner Scott with 5:17 left in the half. Lewis got hot in the final five minutes making five of its final eight shots to cut the Bulldog lead to 34-31 at the intermission.

Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) had seven points in that run while Donovan Oliver (Kewanee, Ill./Kewanee) added three and Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) dropped in two.

Truman shot 50 percent (13-for-26) from the field in the first 20 minutes and was 6-of-13 from three.

The Flyers were held to 40 percent (12-for-30) shooting and were just 3-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Lewis opened the second half on a 6-2 run to take its only lead of the contest on a layup from Oliver less than four minutes in. Brodric Thomas gave the Bulldogs the lead right back scoring five straight points to make it 41-37.

Truman extended its lead to five on a free throw from Mark Rogers but Blaylock countered with two foul shots and a three to bring the Flyers back to within a point with 12:13 remaining.

The Bulldogs answered with a 15-0 hitting five three's over the next five minutes. Messer extended the lead to four with a three and then Thomas hit back-to-back three's 0:35 apart to extend the lead to double digits. Messer capped the run with two more three's about a minute apart.

The Flyers began to chip away at the lead getting as close as seven points with 0:44 left but Truman iced the game at the foul line as Thomas put the capper on his 28 point, 10 rebound night with two free throws.

Lewis ended the game shooting 37.3 percent (22-for-59) from the floor, was 4-of-18 from three but did shoot 82 percent at the foul line. It forced 16 Bulldog turnovers which resulted in 14 points.
