ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The 11th ranked Lewis men's basketball withstood a second half rally from Quincy to bounce back with a 75-63 win on Saturday afternoon at Neil Carey Arena. Adam Pischke (Cary, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) finished with a season-high 25 points and matched his career-high with five three's in the contest.

The two teams were ice cold to begin the contest combining for just two field goals in the first four minutes. Tanner Stuckman gave the Hawks (7-7, 1-3 GLVC) its last lead of the game with a jumper with 15:52 left in the half.

The Flyers (9-2, 2-1 GLVC) responded with 14-3 run over the next four minutes to build a 10-point advantage on a jumper from Anthony D'Avanzo (Harwood Heights, Ill./Notre Dame). Pischke keyed the run with a pair of three's.

Quincy cut the lead to eight just past the midway point of the opening half but Lewis answered with a 13-2 run over the next six minutes to build its largest lead of the half at 32-13 on a jumper from Kendale McCullum (Elgin, Ill./Elgin Larkin).

The Flyers ended up taking a 17 point lead into the locker room at halftime.

After its slow start to begin the game Lewis finished the first half shooting 50 percent (14-for-28) from the field and was 4-of-10 from downtown. Pischke led all scorers with 11 points.

The Flyers opened the second half scoring six of the first nine points to build its largest advantage of the game at 40-20 on an old fashioned three-point play from Delaney Blaylock (Wyoming, Mich./Godwin Heights) 2:24 into the second half.

The Hawks began to chip away at the lead getting it down to nine with 17-6 run over the six minutes but seven straight points by Lewis pushed the lead back to double digits.

However, Quincy refused to go away cutting the deficit to 59-53 on a three-pointer by Demetrius Houston with 5:21 left in the contest. The Hawks cut the deficit to six a couple of more times in the half but the Flyers were able to ice the game at the foul line making 8-of-10 at the foul line and got a big three from Pischke with less than two minutes to play.

Lewis finished the game shooting 44 percent (24-of-54) from the field, was 8-for-24 from three and shot a season best 91 percent (19-for-21) at the foul line. Pischke was joined in double figures by Blaylock and D'Avanzo with 10 points each.

Quincy ended the contest shooting 43 percent (21-for-49) from the floor, was held to 4-of-18 shooting from three and was 17-for-23 at the foul line. Ryan Briscoe led four Hawks in double figures with 15 points. Jah-Kobe Womack had 12 points while Houston and Stuckman added 11 and 10 respectively.

The Flyers begin a three-game road trip next Thursday as they travel to Rolla, Mo., to take on Missouri S&T at 7:30 p.m.
