ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' men's soccer team was defeated by the University of Indianapolis 1-0 on Friday evening at Lewis Stadium. The Flyers fall to 7-2-2, 4-2-2 GLVC while the Greyhounds improve to 6-3-1, 4-3-1 GLVC.

Lewis had a couple of early chances in the first 10 minutes but Aris Oluwatuyi (Lagos, Nigeria/The International Sports Academy) had both of his shot attempts blocked.

UIndy had the game's first good scoring chance in the 23rd minute as Bryan Moreira's shot was saved by C.J. Couper (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic).

The 'Hounds scored what proved to be the game-winner four minutes later when Kendall Allen headed home a free kick from Javier Steinwascher for his first goal of the season. Allen nearly had a second goal less than 90 seconds later but Couper made the save.

UIndy put two more shots on goal in the 31st and 42nd minute with Couper making both saves to keep the deficit at 1-0.

The Greyhounds outshot the Flyers 6-2 in the opening and 5-0 in shots on goal. They had three corner kicks to just one for Lewis.

Neither side was able to muster much offense in the second half as each took only one shot. Lewis took six corner kicks in the stanza but was unable to get the equalizer.

UIndy finished the contest with a 7-3 advantage in shots, 5-0 in shots on goal while the Flyers had a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

Lewis concludes its four-game homestand on Sunday hosting Bellarmine at 2:30 p.m. The Knights played to a 1-1 double overtime draw at Illinois Springfield on Friday evening.
