ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Lewis' women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the season defeating Dominican College (N.Y.) 7-0 on Sunday (Oct. 13) afternoon. The Flyers improve to 1-1 on the season while the Chargers drop to 3-9.
Lewis won all three doubles matches to take the point.
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia/) and
Jovana Vujanic () defeated Isha Mbaye and Elizabeth Hixson 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. In No. 2 doubles it was
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic/) and
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) defeating Nora Frederick and Paula Gutierrez 6-2.
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) and
Agnes Florcyzk () defeated Brittany Miller and Kendra Saintel at No. 3 doubles 6-0.
On the singles side, Sredojevic knocked off Gutierrez in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Pilzova defeated Mbaye 6-4, 6-2 in No. 2 singles action. At No. 3 singles it was Reisch defeating Frederick 6-2, 6-2. Vujanic beat Hixson 6-0, 6-0 in No. 4 singles play.
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) downed Joanna Spruce 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and
Sarah Markun (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) wrapped it up defeating Saintel at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1.
The Flyers conclude their fall schedule on at the University of Alabama's Roberta Allison Fall Classic on Friday, November 1 through Sunday, November 3.
