EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Lewis' men's soccer team suffered its fourth straight defeat in a 1-0 loss at Southern Indiana's Strassweg Field in Evansville, Ind., on Sunday afternoon. The Flyers drop to 7-5-2, 4-5-2 GLVC while the Screaming Eagles improve to 5-5-3, 5-4-2 GLVC.

Lewis recorded the first three shots of the game with all of them coming in the first 16 minutes. USI scored the game's lone goal in the 18th minute. The Screaming Eagles had a corner kick and then John Oshakpemhe (Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria/Al-Mukhtar Secondary School) was whistled for a foul in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Eric Ramirez put in the attempt.

The Flyers had another opportunity 3:30 later but Mattiasson's shot was blocked.

USI had a chance to extend its lead shortly before halftime but C.J. Couper (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) made a save denying Dan Hartman's scoring opportunity.

Each side had four shots in the first 45 minutes but the Screaming Eagles put two on goal to just one for Lewis. The Flyers had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Lewis had four attempts at tying the game in the first 25 minutes of the second half. Jimmy Mwanga (Dublin, Ireland/CBS Lucan) had the first one in the 56th minute but his attempt was blocked. Shortly after that Malinowski had another opportunity but he was denied by Justin Fauss. Sebastian Arguello (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) had a shot that was saved by Fauss in the 64th minute and Malinowski missed an attempt wide in the 69th minute.

The Flyers were outshot in the second half 5-4 but put two of those chances on goal compared to none for USI. Lewis also had three corner kicks in the second half.

The Screaming Eagles finished the game with a 9-8 advantage in shots but the Flyers had the edge in shots on goal 3-2.
