LIBERTY, Mo. – Lewis' women's soccer team snapped a four game winless streak scoring three first half goals in its 3-0 at William Jewell on Sunday afternoon. The Flyers improve to 7-6-3, 5-5-3 in the GLVC while the Cardinals fall to 3-12-1, 3-10 GLVC.
Christine Szymanski (Orland Park, Ill/Sandburg) put Lewis on the board with her third goal of the season in the 19th minute.
Kailey Parnello (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) crossed the ball into the middle of the box where Szymanski was on the other end to put into the lower right corner.
Parnello added onto the lead five minutes later with her seventh goal of the year.
Alissa Waits (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) stole the ball near midfield and sent it ahead to Parnello. She brought the ball down the right side and moved into the box scoring from 10 yards out into the lower right corner.
Karlie Cummins (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington) added the final goal in the 32nd minute heading home a corner kick from
Miranda Nirchi (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) into the lower right corner for her second goal of the season.
The Flyers dominated the stat sheet outshooting William Jewell 25-7, they had a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal and recorded 10 corner kicks to just three for the Cardinals.
Lewis returns home on Friday (Nov. 1) to take on Drury at 5 p.m. at Lewis Stadium. It'll be senior night for the Flyers as they'll honor their 11 seniors at halftime.
