Lewis Women’s Basketball Looks To Stay Hot As It Begins Five-Game Roadtrip

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' women's basketball team looks to stay hot as it opens a five-game roadtrip this weekend traveling to Michigan to take on Northwood and Grand Valley State. The Flyers will take on the Timberwolves on Saturday at 12 p.m. (CST) in Midland, Mich., and then will head to Allendale, Mich., on Sunday to take on Grand Valley State at 12 p.m. (CST).

LAST TIME OUT – The Flyers shot 52 percent (13-for-25) from beyond the arc in its 65-41 win over Northern Michigan on Sunday afternoon at Neil Carey Arena. The 13 three's are tied for sixth most in a single game in school history. Seven players made a three in the contest with Morgan Glatczak (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago), Kaitlyn Williams (Homer Glen, Ill./Joliet Catholic) and Stephanie Hart (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) hitting three 3's each.

1,000 POINT CLUB – Rachel Hinders (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) became the 24th player in school history to surpass the 1,000 point mark in career with her first two free throws in the win over Northern Michigan on Sunday. Hinders is currently at 1,009 points for her career.

LEWIS – NORTHWOOD – THE SERIES – Saturday's contest marks the eighth meeting all-time between Lewis and Northwood with the Flyers winning six of the first seven meetings. It's also the eighth straight year the two sides have met. Lewis won last year's meeting 68-44 at Neil Carey Arena.

SCOUTING NORTHWOOD – The Timberwolves opened the season with two losses in the G-MAC/GLIAC Crossover. They lost to Findlay 71-61 in the season opener and then two days later were defeated at Hillsdale 80-71. Sophia DiMilia leads the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game while Alli Keyser and Makenzie Todd are averaging 12.5 and 10.0 points per contest respectively.

LEWIS – GRAND VALLEY – THE SERIES – Sunday's contest will be the 23rd meeting all-time between Lewis and Grand Valley with the Lakers holding a 13-9 advantage. The two sides split their two meetings a year ago with the Flyers winning 74-66 at Neil Carey Arena while Grand Valley won the rematch 72-55 in the Midwest Regional semifinals at Drury.

SCOUTING GRAND VALLEY – The Lakers opened their season last weekend with a pair of convincing wins in St. Louis. They defeated UMSL in their season opener 78-44 last Friday and then knocked off Maryville 94-50 last Saturday. Cassidy Boensch leads GVSU in scoring and rebounding with 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while Maddie Dailey is averaging 12.0 ppg.

UP NEXT – Lewis continues its roadtrip next weekend as it heads to Ohio to take on Ashland and Central State in a pair of regional contests.
