Lewis Set To Take On McKendree In GLVC Tournament First Round Contest

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's soccer team is on the road for the first round of the GLVC Tournament, visiting top seeded McKendree University this Sunday (Nov. 10) at 12 p.m.

The four first-round winners advance to the GLVC Championship Tournament semifinals on November 15 at Woehrle Athletic Complex in Jeffersonville, Ind. The two semifinal contests will be played at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (CST) and the tournament final will take place next Sunday (Nov.17) at 11 a.m. (CST).

GLVC Tournament – The Flyers enter the GLVC Tournament as the No. 8 seed after defeating Southwest Baptist, 1-0 in the regular season finale this past Sunday to qualify for the tournament for the second straight year.

In The GLVC – Senior forward Kailey Parnello (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) leads the GLVC in shots with 83 and shots per game with 4.61. She is tied for second in the league in points with 21 and assists with 5 and is third in the league in goals with eight.

Between The Posts – Sophomore goalkeeper Lucy Clark (Bristol, England) leads the Flyers with a 6-6-3 record, a 0.87 goals against average, three shutouts and 34 saves during her second season.

Series History – Sunday's contest marks the 10th meeting all-time between Lewis and McKendree with the Bearcats leading 7-2. McKendree won the first meeting this season 1-0 in Lebanon back on Oct. 18. Six of the first nine contests in the series have been decided by one goal.

McKendree In 2019 – The Bearcats finished the regular season with a mark of 13-3-2 and were 11-2-2 in the GLVC. They finished the regular winning back-to-back contests and are 5-1-1 in their last seven matches.

Lewis In The GLVC Tournament – The Flyers are making their eighth appearance in the GLVC Tournament and are seeking their second GLVC Tournament title. Lewis is 3-6-1 all-time in the conference tournament after falling to Truman State 3-1 in last year's playoff. The Flyers won the inaugural GLVC Tournament championship back in 1995 defeating Quincy in penalty kicks.

Lewis Against The GLVC Field – The Flyers are 2-2-3 against the rest of the GLVC Tournament field this season.
