ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Tiffin on Friday at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. The Flyers fall to 0-3 on the season while the Dragons, ranked 10th in the Midwest Region, improved to 1-0.
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) and
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia) each went 2-0 in the dual. The duo teamed up to win their match at no. 1 doubles 6-1 over Abbie-Jade Riley and Anais Geslin.
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic) and
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) fell at no. 2 doubles to Lauren Prince and Juliette Sirgant 6-4.
At no. 3 doubles
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) and
Sarah Markun (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) lost to Milah Ryland and Shea Foster 6-3.
Trus earned a straight set win over Riley 6-0 and 6-0 at no. 1 singles.
Pilzova defeated Geslin in three sets. She won the opener 6-0, lost set two 6-3 and won set three 6-1.
Reisch lost to Sirgant 6-1 and 6-4 at no. 3 singles.
Sredojevic rallied from a set down to defeat Emily Sim 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at no. 4 singles.
Davis fell in straight sets to Prince 6-1 and 6-2 at no. 5 singles.
Markun dropped a straight sets decision to Ryland 6-0, 6-0 in the no. 6 singles match.
The Flyers return to action next Friday hosting Northwood at Five Star Tennis Center.
