PLAINFIELD, Ill. – The Lewis women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision against Ferris State on Friday afternoon at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. The Flyers drop to 1-4 on the season while the Bulldogs even their record at 7-7.
Ferris State swept the doubles matches to pick up the point. Nicole Meylor and Silvia Verebes defeated
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) and
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia) 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Isabela Paixao and Patricia Gomez won at No. 2 doubles 6-4 over
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) and
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic). Agata Klak and Brittany Lavenant took the win at No. 3 doubles defeating
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) and
Sarah Markun (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) 6-2.
Trus and Sredojevic each won their singles matches on Friday. Trus won at No. 1 singles 7-6 (7-3) and 6-0 while Sredojevic won in straight sets at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-4. Pilzova dropped the opening set at No. 2 singles 7-6 (7-5) but came back to win set two 6-4 but dropped set three 6-1. Reisch lost in three sets at No. 3 singles losing the opening set 6-2 then won set two 6-4 but lost set three 7-5.
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) lost in straight sets at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0 and
Katie Horn () fell at No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-0.
The Flyers return to the courts on Saturday hosting Hillsdale at 5 p.m.
