PLAINFIELD, Ill. – The Lewis women's tennis team was edged by Hillsdale 4-3 on Saturday evening at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. The Flyers won two of the three doubles matches to pick up the point but the Chargers (3-0) won 4-2 in singles competition.
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) and
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia) each went 2-0 on the day as the duo teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles 6-4 over Hannah Cimpeanu and Sarah Hackman.
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic) and
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) won at No. 2 doubles 6-4 over Katie Bell and Corinne Prost. At No. 3 doubles
Sarah Markun (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) and
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) fell to Kamryn Matthews and Madeline Bissett 6-2.
Trus defeated Cimpeanu at No. 1 singles in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 and Sredojevic knocked of Prost in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
Pilzova lost to Hackman at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-3. Reisch fell in No. 3 singles action to Bell 6-1 and 6-3. Davis dropped her contest at No. 5 singles to Sophia Spinazze 6-3, 6-0 and Markun fell at No. 6 singles to Bissett 6-0, 6-0.
Lewis falls to 1-5 on the season and is back in action next Saturday taking on Walsh at 6 p.m.
