PLAINFIELD, Ill. – Lewis' women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Walsh on Saturday evening at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. The Flyers fall to 1-6 on the season while the Cavaliers improve to 5-4.
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) and
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia) picked up a win at No. 1 doubles over Katarina Razum and Maria Kacalova 6-0.
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) and
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic) lost a hard fought match at No. 2 doubles 7-6 (7-4) to Mercedes Fernandez and Clara Drasch.
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) and
Sarah Markun (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) fell to Nicole Beidacki and Parvanee Karimpour 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Trus and Pilzova picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively. Trus defeated Fernandez in straight sets 7-5, 6-0 while Pilzova knocked off Kacalova 6-1 and 6-2. Sredojevic lost to Drasch at No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-1. Reisch fell to Razum at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-0, Davis lost to Beidacki at No. 5 singels 6-2, 6-0 and
Katie Horn () fell at No. 6 singles to Sofia Khariutdinova 6-1, 6-0.
The Flyers return to the courts on Monday, March 18 taking on Midland at 12 p.m.
