PLAINFIELD, Ill. – Lewis' women's tennis team swept Midland 7-0 to snap its three game losing streak on Monday at Five Star Tennis Center in Plainfield, Ill. With the win, the Flyers improve to 2-6 on the season while the Warriors drop to 1-7.
Lewis took all three doubles matches to win the point and take a 1-0 lead.
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) and
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia) defeated Christina Villareal and Annie Allmand 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic) and
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) were paired at No. 2 doubles and defeated Elyse Splichal and Madison Kersigo 6-0.
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) and
Sarah Markun (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) won by default at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Carmen Trus won over Allmand 6-1, 6-0 in straight sets at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles it was Pilzova defeating Splichal 6-0, 6-0, Sredojevic defated Villarreal in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Reisch knocked off Kersigo 6-1 and 6-0 in straight sets at No. 4 singles. In No. 5 singles action it was Davis defeating Alyson Miller 6-0, 6-3 and at No. 6 singles
Katie Horn () won by default.
The Flyers are back in action on Saturday as they host Northwood at 12 p.m. at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
