ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's tennis team swept its matches with McKendree, defeating the Bearcats 7-0 Monday (April 1) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at the Jack Oremus Tennis Complex.
The Flyers didn't lose a match on the day, sweeping through the doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles team of
Oana Carmen Trus (Sighetu Marmatiei, Romania/Regele Ferdinand) and
Aleksandra Sredojevic (Belgrade, Serbia) defeated Steffany Bermudez and Nicole Uzcategui 6-4.
Tereza Pilzova (Prague, Czech Republic) and
Joie Reisch (LaGrande Highlands, Ill./Lyons Township) beat Jessica Molinari and Alex Tinnin 6-1 at No. 2 doubles to earn the doubles point.
In singles, Carmen Trus beat Bermudez 6-2, 6-2 at No, 1, Pilzova took down Uzcategui 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, Sredojevic beat Molinari 1-6, 6-3, 10-8 at No. 3, Reisch topped Megan Molinari 6-0, 6-1 at No, 4,
Sophie Davis (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) beat Tinnin 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5 and
Sarah Markun (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Catholic Academy) won by default at No. 6.
With the win the Flyers move to 3-6 on the year, 1-0 in the GLVC, while McKendree falls to 2-10, 0-1 in the GLVC.
Lewis returns to the court Friday (April 5) when it hosts Bellarmine at 2 p.m. in a GLVC meet.
